The leadership of Alliance for National Transformation party (ANT) Party led by General Mugisha Muntu have paid a courtesy call on the Speaker, to deliberate among other things whether Parliament can immediately change the register and recognize MPs who moved from other parties to ANT.

In a meeting with the Speaker on Tuesday 4th August 2020, the delegation from ANT wanted to know whether ANT could be officially recognized as a Member of Inter-Party Organization for Dialogue (IPOD).

The ANT delegation included party leader Gen. Mugisha Muntu and Secretary-General Alice Alaso and newly recruited MP Paul Mwiru.

Kadaga congratulated the team for the achievement and thanked them for the courtesy call. She, however, told the team from ANT that she was going to consult widely, especially on the issue of IPOD and MPs that have switched allegiance.

Kadaga noted that the law allows any MP to cross to any party of choice during the last six months of Parliament’s tenure. She promised to consult with the Parliament’s Legal Department, the Uganda Law Society and others before taking any position on the same.
