Sarah Kanyike takes oath as State Minister for the Elderly and the disabled

The State Minister for the Elderly and the disabled, Sarah Kanyike has taken oath following her appointment and approval by Parliament to the position.

In a Plenary sitting chaired by Speaker Kadaga on Wednesday 26th 2020, the Speaker welcomed the Minister to the 1oth Parliament which she said was remaining with nine to end its term.

The Speaker equally handed Kanyike a copy of the Constitution of Uganda and the Rules of Procedure of Parliament, saying that the laws would assist the Minister in executing her roles.

MP Asuman on behalf of the opposition MPs congratulated Kanyike upon her appointment as a Minister. He challenged the Minister to put the country first in her service saying that the move would make her work easier.

“I would like to call upon Hon. Sarah Kanyike to put her country first before anything while executing her work. As the opposition, we will work closely with her as she executes her duties.” Said Asuman Basalirwa, MP Bugiri Municipality.

The Minister of for Public Service Muruli Mukasa , on behalf of the NRM MPs at Parliament, congratulated Kanyike on her appointment urging her to execute the assignment give to her effectively.

The Chairperson Gender, Labour and Social Development Committee MP Alex Ndeezi equally congratulated the Kanyike upon her appointed and thanked the appointing authority and the Speaker of Parliament for her appointment.

Kadaga congratulated the Minister and wished her best of luck in her new journey.
