Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah has rallied MPs to roll out massive campaigns in their respective constituencies, encouraging their electorate to go for Covid19 vaccination.
Oulanyah said that there was a need to avoid a situation where vaccines expire. He challenged the legislators to encourage their constituents to embrace vaccination.
‘Please pass on the message. We rather have vaccination shortages than have them expire,’ Oulanyah said.
President Yoweri Museveni on September 22, 2021, called for massive mobilization for the inoculation of the priority groups before some COVID-19 vaccines donated to the country expired.
He directed Government representatives at the local level, chief administrative officers and district health officers to ensure that the priority groups are vaccinated.
According to the ministry of health reports, a total of over 2 million Ugandans, have been vaccinated against Covid19 but Government targets at least 5-7 million vaccinated Ugandans before fully reopening the economy.
